I am very much interested in giving training but have stage fear. Want to start my career in Training or something related to that. Can anybody tell me how to start with it? A small guidance from well known person from this group will help me to start my dream career.

Dear Nishu,
If you wish to become trainer and if you have stage fear then the first thing that you need to do is to take training on Presentation Skills. Once you master presentation skills half of the battle is over.
Nevertheless, employee training is far more than mere giving presentations. You need to be subject matter expert, understand your client's requirement, you need to develop ability to transfer the knowledge to your participants, help your participants in the preparation of the Learning Implementation Plan (LIP) and above all should be clear as to how your training will benefit your organisation or client. The benefits should be measurable and tangible and there should not be vagueness of any kind.
The first step to become trainer is to know how other trainers conduct their training programmes. Have you done that? If yes, how many training programmes did you attend and what were your observations?
Thanks,

Very appropriately described by respected Divesh ji. A trainer is more than a person standing amongst an audience and talking. A competent trainer is not only a subject matter expert, but also a facilitator. He facilitates the learning process to bridge the gap.
As suggested, besides being confident you need to know the subjects you are training on. To start with you need to decide what kind of trainings you would want to impart - behavioural or technical. You can also enroll for various courses available for trainers and understand the psychology n methods of training. ISTD is a government institution which provides a diploma in training. There are many other private ones too that certifies trainers. All the best.

If you have a stage fear, I give you some clues to overcome. It is from my experience.
1) First observe a good orator (preferably a good politician’s speak) and observe and appreciate ‘ How good in his speech and how God has given him strength to speak so loudly and his action while speaking’
2) Make a Small entry for short speech, with pedestal stand. Initially Prepare the speech with small sentences, and keep it in your hand, and in case of any break / doubt you may refer it to your script.
3) While you are in the stage if you are nervous, imagine, appreciate and be conscious ‘how God is moving my legs shivering and wonder / appreciate the involuntary movement. The shivering will stop.

Hi Divakar Sir, Rahul Sir and Babu Alexander Sir,
I have attended few training program when I was in College and during my work tenure. But have not attended any external training as such. I have done few presentation during my college days. My desire to become trainer started when I was doing presentation for my college work.
I have just completed my PGDBHRM from SIBM Bangalore.
And Rahul Sir, I have heard about ISTD course. And I went through it also. The course is completely theoretical and I am planning to take that course, but what about practical training. If I have to get that how should I start. Can anybody suggest any good such course through which I can develop this skill. please suggest.
Babu sir, Thanks for the quick motivation. I will consider it and remember it whenever I go for presentation

Hi Nishuji,
May I suggest that you apply to any 5 star Hotel for the post of Training Assistant. If you take that step you will get a chance to observe good trainers at work and in a couple of years you could be an Assistant Training Manager in Soft Skills training.
Wish you all the very best.
