Would like to discuss someone who can help me to understand the Payroll Process for Labours (Muthiya and Packers) who are working on a Piece Rate Basis. How do we check their Attendance Record, Piece Rate Calculation check as per the defined Rates.

Dear Bibha,
You have two queries - Payroll on the basis of piece Rate and Attendance Record.
For any organization the basic discipline is to keep attendance of the employees which is also need for several statutory records. Hope your organization must have some system otherwise introduce any attendance system - Manual, Electronics, Bio metric etc. Attendance is must to capture total hours of work per day for OT purpose.
Payroll process for piece rate employees - No. of pieces produced in a month x rate. Now the question is how do you bifurcate that in different pockets - Basic, HRA etc. to fulfill statutory compliance like PF, ESI, Bonus, Gratuity etc. It will be better if your per piece rate is bifurcated in different pockets as mentioned earlier. If the Labours are working more than the statutory hours any day or week, then they will also be eligible for OT at double the rate.
