Pre-requisites for submitting online PF claims
As per the recent notification issued by EPFO, in case of claims where the settlement amount is above Rs. 10 lacs for PF and above Rs. 5 Lacs for EPS, such claims have to mandatorily submitted through online mode.
In order to enable employees to forward maximum claim through online mode, a few pre-requisites have been intimated by the EPFO which are as follows: -
1) Employee should have activated UAN through EPF website, wherein employee’s mobile set will be required for receiving OTP.
2) For Aadhar Seeding in UAN by employee, through UMANG App. employees mobile set will be required for receiving OTP. In case employer is seeding Aadhar number, the same is to be approved by DSC/’e’ Sign.
3) The UAN should be linked with Bank Account No.& PAN and approved with DSC/’e’ sign by employer.
4) The mobile no. should be the same as given in Aadhar Data Base.
5) The employer/employee should have seeded the Aadhar through EPF website or through UMANG App
6) Date of joining of member should have been entered by employer.
7) Date of exit of member should have been entered by employer especially for final withdrawal cases.
8) Mobile set should be available with the employee for receiving OTP while filing online claims (same mobile no. as given in UAN Data Base)
9) Last four Digit of the Bank Account no. should be available with the employee (same Bank Account as linked in UAN Data Base)
In cases of mismatch of name as per Aadhar Data Base vis-a-vis office/system record, employer can get online request generated for name/DOB change and submit related documents to the office. Presently no facility for upload supporting documents is provided online. Meanwhile for smooth receipt of documents related to name and DOB change, there will be one-point collection of supporting documents in Regional Office, so that the necessary processing can be carried out at the earliest. These can be submitted on counter No.1, from where these will be sent to the concerned section the same day.
Employer is required to get UAN activated by employee, through member e-seva. Once UAN is activated, employer needs to approve KYC Data related to Bank Account, PAN and Aadhar at the earliest through DSC/ ‘E’ Sign. It is to be noted that only Bank Account and PAN Seeding with approval by DSC is dependent on employer, but UAN activation and Aadhar Seeding can be done by employee.
Employers are advised to complete the above task of updation of KYC for all employee’s including those who have left and on priority for those who are still in service.
Employers can obtain the list of Aadhar KYC not seeded in Employer login at Dashboard>> Missing Details>>Search missing Details>> Aadhar KYC and complete the above actions for employees based on the list generated.
It may be noted that presently online claim submission has been made mandatory for settlement of claims for more than Rs.10 lakhs and in a few days to come it is likely to be reduced to much lower amount. Hence, to avoid last minute hassle for the employee, in Seeding Aadhar ,Bank & PAN,the said task should be completed at the earliest so that online claim can be preferred by the employee conveniently.
It is suggested that when employee comes to the employer for claim attestation and forwarding, the UAN activation, Aadhar, PAN, Bank Account Seeding process should be completed there itself, where after online claim can be submitted by the employee the next day.
All employers are requested to reach out to the employee narrating the benefit of online claim submission like protection from fraud, freedom from dependence on employer, immediate communication through SMS regarding receipt/settlement of claims in the concerned EPFO office, settlement in 5 days as against 20 days for offline claims. Further employer too will save huge administrative cost.
