Hi all
As all we know that ESIC has enhanced the limit of Rs. 10000.00 to Rs.15000.00 effective 01/05/2010.
My query is : As we know that the change in the ESIC membership can be done in the month of April and October only. So, do we need to start deducting ESIC from May month onwards for employees in the bracket of Rs. 10000 to Rs. 15000 or from October month onwards.
Please suggest.

Yes, ESI Cont. to be deducted in respect of the employees who are drawing between 10k to 15k from 1.5.10.
The Other rule is that, though at the beginning of the contribution period, i.e. during april & October, anybody is drawing within the ceiling limit and later their salary is crossed the wage ceiling their contn. is to be deducted till the end of such contribution period. for example, if a person is drawing 15,000=00 during May and crossed the wage ceiling after May, the contribution has to continue till the end of the contn.period, ie. till the end of September...............

The rule is:
Employees already covered under the ESI Scheme, if their salaries increase to beyond the prescribed Wage celing, ESI deductions for such employees will continue until the close of the Contribution period.
Such employees will be exempted from ESI coverage ONLY after the current Contribution Period if over.
Trust this answers your query.

Dear All,
In many Pay packages we have option to change the ESI deduction only during April or October which are the begining month of the contribution period.
If we opt for Non ESI for thouse salary is 14,000.00 for the month of April 2010, ESI deductions will not be done till the end of the contribution i.e 6 months up to Sept.2010.
But now we have to recover ESI contribution for Rs.14,000.00 from 1/5/2010 which many salary package will not have option and If we deduct ESI for Rs.14,000.00 from 1/5/2010 the package will deduct ESI for Rs.14,000.00 for April 2010.
Can any one help me in this regards,
