Dear Cynthia,
Tours and Travel Industry falls under the purview of Shops and Establishment Act. Therefore, you may follow this act of your state.
Roughly, I can say that working hours are for 8 hours. For additional work, employees may work for one more extra work for which they are eligible for overtime (OT) payment.
Otherwise, few companies make working hours for nine hours. These working hours include half hour lunch/dinner break and two tea breaks of 15 minutes each. This is also acceptable.
Thanks,

Dear Cynthia,
If you have extended duration of working hours from 8 to 9 hours, then you need to issue circular to this effect. A copy of the circular has to be displayed on the notice board. In the notice, mention clearly at what is the timing of the working hours, what is the break timing for the first tea break, what is the break timing for the lunch, and what is the timing for the second tea break.
If number of persons working in your company are not more then you may obtain signature of each employee on having read and understood the contents of the circular. It will be the most valuable record for you.
Thanks,

Dear madam,
For working hours ,rest interval, and OT you are governed by the State Shops and Eastmt Act.
The daily maximum working hours excluding lunch recess are prescribed are 8 hours and weekly hours are 48 hours.
Daily/weekly hours if exceeded, will rank for OT at double the rate.
Weekly off of one day after 6 days of work is compulsory. Depending on the requirements of the business, you may arrange staggered off but no arrangement should result into an employee working continuously for more than 10 days without an off.
If you have worked for 9 hours daily for six days, it will entail OT hour payment for number of hours worked in excess of 8/48 hours.
For more details , pl refer to the Shops Act of your state.
