Hi Friends,
"Times of India" carried a news item in its Hyderabad edition today mentioning that HR is encouraging back door practices in recruitment of personnel in some organizations especially in IT/ITES companies which is quite shocking. This news item also cited some instances quoted by some software professionals where it was evident that backdoor recruitment is rampant in some organizations. Even some from manpower recruitment agencies confessed giving some share of the remuneration received by them to the HR people for selecting the candidates sent by them. If this is true it is bound to be taken seriously and this kind of practices not only thwart the real talent but also result in unethical practices (we have been talking a lot about the ethical practices these days) How do we react to this and what are the solutions to avoid this kind of 'deals' which are a dark spot on HR profession as a whole. Aren't they ashamed to do these kind of things and why can't we condemn these unethical practices strongly and vehemently?
Reactions and comments of all learned friends are welcome on this topic or let's forget everything and get immersed in our day to day jobs with same laid back attitude.

This practice is totally unethical.The concept of of the Equal Employment Opportunity policy should be followed and if any HR "Professionals" are resorting to such malpratices then they have no right to remain in this field. It is a shame on the entire HR Family.

If we HR people will do such unethical things in the organisation, I do not know how do we take care of the organisation culture.
We must raise our voice against any such unethical and wrong practice happening in organisation.

17 views and only 2 reactions. Seems that everybody wants to play it cool and safe. If unstopped, the fire is going to raze on and on.........afterall who can take the risk of playing with fire and dousing it. More shocking and alarming!!

Hi Pradeep,
The Article is very True.I Personally experienced a similar incident in the beginning of my career wherein I was asked Rs.25000/- for a Executive Position at a Manpower Consulting,Hyderabad for their reputed Client who are well known Leaders in Banking and Financial Industry.HR was very much involved in the Backdoor Process.However, I refused to go with it.
But did not stop there, with the help of two my Friends tried to enquire about the HR Personnel behind this but failed miserably.Finally we approached a leading Local News Agency in AP and Published a Article on the same.But again the response was Poor.
Iam glad to see the similar article again and expecting some positive response.I think this is the right platform to discuss this issue.

It is Shocking to read, but is truth, not only in this form but many other forms unethical people have made entry into HR Profession.
What is primarily wrong is the recruitment process, where the companies are not using any psychometric or other tools to get the depth of the candidates. Also at many places it is the will of the Top management also to take stern actions against such people.
Even a strong ref. check can reveal such truths.

This is fact. Infact I have heard many a times. It has been long time since this practice is going on. Nobody raised this point as of now. But we should really stop doing this as if we HR will not follow rules how can we expect others to follow the same.

It is very sad & totaly condemnable, if it is true. Without going into details, we should refrain from making any statement as a responsible & caring persons. Though it is relavent to point out, I am not talking about principle of natural justice, but atleast without going into details & authenticity & truthfulness of published box item, responsible people should remain away from it.
This may sound different tone, but again, it is totally condemnable & non ethical, if it is true. Moreover, such singled out incident should not be taken as rule. Exceptional people are there in any field.

Yes, you are right. I have also heard about this issue. But I think this happens only in a few HR professional which ofcource is wrong. I think we as a HR team need to expose a few of them so that we can curb this illegal & inethical practice. Until & nless the wrong doers dont get punished this will continue to happen. But the question is how do we go ahead. I think Swapna was really courageous to approach the local newspaper abt this issue. Can we all do this in our own places. I hope we can get more cooperation from the other HR professionals. Atleast we can get more ideas, suggestions & views on the same.
Wake Up HR guys lets think abt this seriously.
