As im new in hotel Industry in goa. i wanted to knw the privilege leave.
A person joined in 01/06/2012
as she completed one yr of working she is entitled for PL but , how much PL can be given to her?
as PL is credited after completetion of 1 yr of job , can pl be given directly or 20 days has to be completed to give one PL.

hello it is calculated from jan to dec. you can calculate total no.days divide by 20 till dec.plz maintain it in a calender year.

You are in Goa and that too in Hotel Industry. WOH! Next time when I come to Goa, I will get some privilege from your Hotel.
Privilege Leave is a earned leave. When employee work in previous year he / she is entitled to get credit of PL in current year.
Law says that employee is entitled for PL for so many days say 21 days for example.
You should have your own set of rules in regard to how to give credits of the leave to the employees. You should have written rules so that there won't be any ambiguity.
As you said, the first credit is given by you on completion of 1 year. This is the rule with you.
In this case, if an employee joins on 1st June 2012, the first credit is given on 1st June 2013.
You can give the first credit for 1st June 2012 to 31st Dec 2012 proportionately for 7 months the next credit on 1st Jan 2014 for full year 2013.
You can, alternatively give first credit for full year and second one proportionately for 7 months.
This is up to you how to frame your rules. As long as employee gets 21 days PL per year of his working, there is no issue.
Subsequent credits will be on every 1st January for previous calendar year working.
If employee leaves the service in between the calendar year, he should be credited with proportionate leave up to the period he worked.

In erstwhile Indian Airlines one use to get 30days P/L on completion of 11months of continuous service.After it's merger with Air India the employees get 30days P/L credited on 1st April every year.In IA if an employee took say 15days P/L then the credit date use to get pushed back by 15days that is the leave use to get credited after 11months and 15days after last such credit.

As per Goa Shops & Establishment Act, employee who has served for a period of two hundred and forty days or more during a continuous period of twelve months is eligible for 15 days PL in a year. In the above mentioned case, credit the employee's PL leave balance as 15/12 months=1.25 leaves per month i.e. from June'12 to Dec'12 = 1.25x7=8.75. So the employee's PL Opening balance as on 1-1-13 is 8.75 leaves. Now credit 1.25 every month beginning with Jan'13. So in Jan'13, employee's PL leave balance will be 8.75+1.25=10. Likewise, in Feb'13 it will be 10+1.25=11.25 & so on. Hope this helps to resolve your query.
