I am Alka,
Currently I am in Bangalore and searching job in HR. I have completed my PGDM in HR. I just wanted to know which attire I should wear while coming for Interview. Most probably I have seen girls wearing Jeans and kirti for interview. Is it a formal attire for the interview.
I am thin and mostly while coming for interview I prefer Salwar kameez. Should I change my dressing style with trouser shirt or Salwar Kameez is ok.

This is in addition to what other members have said. In some companies jeans are allowed on all the working days and in some companies not on any day. The best thing for you to ask the contact person about the dress code of the company. If you are going through the consultant then ask the recruiter about the policy on dress code of your future employer.
In addition to normal dress, do not wear excessive jewellery (imitation or real one), make up should be with minimal colours, footwear should be clean and polished.

Somebody has suggested that you stand outside and watch how the employees are dressed and follow the same !. Am sorry I dont agree with that approach. A candidate for an interview is different from an employee.
The first impression that you create is going to be the lasting impression on the minds of those interview panel members. It is possible one of them may become your boss also, in case if you are selected. So, please dont create a wrong impression about yourself even before you are considered for employment.
The dressing or the grooming etiquette differs from one organisation to another. To be on the safe side, while going for an interview, you can wear salwar kamiz in pastel colours without any add-ons like chumkis, shiny attachments etc. ! No revealing clothes, plunging necklines etc. No decoratative bright, gold ornaments.. Wear a thin, very thin chain which is more than enough. Once you are selected, you can follow whatever the organistion's dress code says, during your induction programme.
More than these things, you wear a 'smile' on your face and especially when you greet somebody or the panel members and also while you are being greeted by them.
Walk into the interview room with self-confidence, erect body posture. When a question is asked, respond with confidence, talk clearly, pronounce the words clearly, dont exhibit nervousness, fidgetting, and so on.

Dressing sense play an important role but it is a part and parcel of how u carry and present yourself in the interview.
if we strictly stick to dressing code than as an HR person i will prefer girl wearing a simple formal pant an shirt with less of imitation and jewelry,or plain salwar and suits but off course not jeans.
Most important with dressing sense is a good body language, confidence and off course a presentable smile.

I think Indian wear like salwar kameez is the best option, it is accepted by all sort of companies. It is modern yet traditional. even women can think of saree also if she is comfortable with it.

First 3 minutes in the interview is so crucial so present your self neat. Spend two hours for preparation don't ignore any topics try to cover all the subjects one more think please know the company profile their products and so on. This will give an edge over other candidate. Don't sit untill the interviewer asked to do.
Be smiling don't get tensed if u are not able to answer the question.
Be confident in your approach that will show u many things.
