Dear All, Can somebody share the contents for Environment & Human rights policy for a company?

Dear Hr-Saloni,

"Human Rights" is a far wider and comprehensive subject. While framing the constitution for the country, the framers of the constitution have ensured that human rights are intrinsic to it. The constitutional safeguards ensure that the legislative bodies do not pass a single bill that is violative of human rights. Therefore, adherence to the various laws of the land in itself is sufficient, and there is no need for a private limited company to design a policy over and above these laws.

Your second query is on the policy on the environment. If you adhere to the rules and regulations of the pollution control board of your state, it will take care of the environment. Nevertheless, going beyond these rules and regulations, a few companies have gone beyond and have adopted green practices. Their aim is to take measures to reduce carbon emission and global warming. However, you have not mentioned the nature of your industry, what your finished product or service is, why the need for the policy was felt and so on. Sans this information, how can the average member of this forum, who knows nothing about your company provide the suggestions?

Thanks,

Dear sir,

Thank u for your valuable suggestion. Sir My company is a small scale trading unit dealing in industrial products like fasteners, hand tools etc. I need these policies for the export order audit purpose.

Dear Hr-Saloni,

To meet the customer's requirement, if you require the "Policy on Adherence to the Human Rights", then you may create it. In that policy, you may mention which labour laws are implemented and how these are connected with human rights. For example, employment of the minors, daily hours of work, rules of the weekly off, working conditions etc., are all governed by the various labour laws. You need to mention how you protect human rights by adhering to the statutes enacted by the legislative bodies.

A similar thing is about adopting green manufacturing practices as well. You need to specify how your company goes beyond the provisions of the pollution control board and has voluntarily adopted green practices.

Nevertheless, this is a comprehensive work, and it will require the help of a paid consultant. The company that invested time and energy in studying many laws to devise the policy may not readily hand over such a policy to your company. Feel free to approach me to provide you with the consulting services.

Thanks,

Dinesh Divekar
