Shops and Establishment Act applies to Tamil Nadu as well. Every state in India has its own version. The concerning issue in Tamil Nadu is that Chapter 2 and 3, which address working hours and leave, have been removed by a government Gazette Notification.

Dear All,
The Shops Act is enacted by all states in the country. As I mentioned earlier, it differs from state to state. Tamil Nadu and Delhi do not require registration under the Shops and Establishment Act. In Rajasthan, it is a one-time registration, with no requirement for renewal. In all other states, registration is compulsory, and the renewal depends on the State Law. For example, in Maharashtra, renewal can be done yearly or every three years. In Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, it is required annually. In Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana, the renewal period ranges from three to five years.
