Dear All,

We need to start employee engagement activities to be conducted on a regular basis. This initiative needs to be taken as employees are generally feeling low in morale these days, and we need to pep them up by keeping them involved. It need not be any massive event like a party or something, but can be small things that can be conducted once a month or every two months to keep employees engaged. It's also not necessary that we only need to conduct the activities; we can create a group by calling for nominations and assigning responsibilities to others as well.

Would you please share your ideas and help me out with this assignment? I am looking forward to your responses.

Dear Vandana and Urvashi,

It is very simple to motivate the workforce. Your organizations must be certified by any international standard like social compliance or ISO. Provide them with training on fire fighting and first aid, and distribute some rewards or awards in front of others. Publish their names on a notice board with their picture. This will help you reduce accidents, injuries, and housekeeping issues.

Furthermore, it will act as a bridge for grievances between management and the workforce.

Hi Sohail,

Thank you for your reply. It would be great if you could share a few more ideas. I had considered giving the best employee of the month award at the local level as one technique for motivation, but I am looking for many more ideas.

I appreciate your input and any additional suggestions you may have.

Best regards,

Hi Urvashi,

Yeah, it seems great, but in what category are you going to give them the award? The activity must be in favor of management and employees.

You can consider organizing a grand feast for all workers and staff during any religious event. It is a good practice; you should try it once as it will help you to connect with the labor force. Remember, do not try to make them friends but be humble. If you need any help, feel free to contact me through .

Hi,

Indulge your employees in some theatrical play. Take up a comedy play and assign the roles to some good enthusiastic employees. This way, the employees become bonded and feel at ease with each other and let go of their tension.

Urvashi,

Please read "The Fred Factor" by Mark Sanborn. We implemented an employee recognition program based on his book. It is a peer-to-peer recognition program. We call it the FRED of the Month. Essentially, the FRED OF THE MONTH is anyone who is witnessed going above and beyond the call of duty. What is great is that it is the peers who are recognizing peers. All the FREDs are recognized weekly by our commander, and out of those Freds, we nominate a FRED of the month. This person's picture is posted outside the cafeteria, and they are given a wonderful parking space. Great book!
