Dear Friends,
Hello!!
I am based in Baroda. I have to work on revamping the salary structure of our employees based on the current market trends. I am not aware of the present scenario in the market as far as the lower and upper limit of salary is concerned. I have tried to talk to a few consultants but to no avail. I am new to the field of HR, so I do not know many HR professionals in other companies.
Is there some HR professional based in Baroda who can kindly help me to know the lower and the upper limit of salary structure for various hierarchies in various departments? Are there some government institutions or forums that set such limits? Will some other organization be able to help? Please let me know the same at the earliest.
Regards, Vinita

Hi Vinita,
You can check the job portals for similar kinds of jobs and see their salaries, on which you can conclude the salary bracket based on the level at which your company pays, e.g., high payers or not.

Hi, the basic components of the Salary Structure are:
- Basic
- Dearness Allowance
- City Compensatory Allowance
- House Rent Allowance
- PF Contribution & Pension
- Petrol Allowances
- Cellphone allowance
- Entertainment Allowance
- Medical allowance
When considering the above, you also need to calculate the income tax applicability. The salary can be determined based on designations, and when assigning a person to a specific designation, the salary can be fixed at that level.

Dear All,
Hi! I am Renu, working with a USA-based manufacturing company with its headquarters in Jaipur. We are also facing the same dilemma regarding the salary structure. How to compare ourselves with other companies? I also feel that we are in trouble more so because there are very few manufacturing industries in Jaipur, and obviously, the salary range is also as per the location.
I also have to look into the aspects of what would be the salary range in the Delhi region if we put up another plant there. Can someone help with suggestions/details of agencies who conduct this sort of survey/website where I can get help?
Meanwhile, I have found something that might be useful as a reference. I have checked that it is downloadable and can be used as a reference. It's from kellyservices.co.in.
Please keep posting,
Renu

Hi Vinita,
I suggest you go and check out the current rates on real estate, petrol, and consumer price indices. This will enable you to evaluate fixed salaries and the relevant hikes to be given at the time of performance.

Hi Vinita,
I assume you are aware of your immediate competitors or similar companies. If you are using any job portals, consider reaching out to various candidates from your competitors for a telephonic round of interviews. Record this information in an Excel sheet. You can validate the data further by requesting their original salary slips and consolidating the information in the Excel sheet. Alternatively, you can also conduct walk-in interviews to gather data on potential candidates.
While this data may not be entirely accurate, it will definitely provide you with an idea regarding the distribution. I have utilized this approach before.
Best Regards,

Hi,
The most scientific way to handle this is to do a compensation benchmarking. There are good agencies in the market who can help you with this. However, that can be a costly proposition. To keep it economical, you can use any job portal e.g. Naukri and make your own database based on information available there. However, for this to be effective, you need to consider only recently updated profiles.
