Hi,

It's great that you are wishing to celebrate the day. Organize for flag hoisting by your Head. Ask all to assemble by 8 am and sing the national anthem. Distribute sweets and snacks to all - employees/support staff, etc. Give a small prize to the most well-dressed employee for the event. Keep a dress code to attend the flag hoisting; it really irritates to see people turning out shabbily for the function.

Then you may organize some fun games or go for...

Thanks,
Geeta

Invite all employees to attend the flag hoisting function with their family members.

After flag hoisting, arrange a rich breakfast for all employees and family members. If you have sufficient space, have some games, performances, and give prizes for the kids. Let the family members also take part in the activities.

As a small gesture to salute our National Flag, let's get dressed in TRI COLOR. We can even get dressed in Saffron, White, Green, or a combination of all three. We can even divide the colors amongst the team and create a TRIO. The most dazzling individual/trio/team, portraying the essence of the tricolor, will be the winner. Let's not consider it a dress competition but a proud feeling of being a TRUE INDIAN.

Hi,

As you have only 25 members in your company, you can tell everybody to come with their family. The dress code for gentlemen can be churidar or Punjabi attire, and for ladies, it can be a saree. Arrange some events for the kids, such as Music chair, fancy dress, painting competition, etc. For the adults, consider activities like Antakshari, mimicry, and for couples, a fashion show and one-minute games such as balloon blowing or balloon bursting.

Start the event with flag hoisting, followed by an address from the seniors, singing of patriotic songs by individual employees or groups, sweet distribution, and finally, all the cultural events and games can be conducted.

Select a male or female anchor from the employees to coordinate the entire event.

All the best!

Dear Jyoti,

My suggestion is that as per the law and order under the Factories Act 1940 or Shop and Establishment Act, it is not the right of any person to open his/her shop or industry on 15th August, 2nd October, and 26th January as those are restricted dates.

You are requested to please not open on those dates. If you are celebrating these dates in an institution, please celebrate one day before.

Decorate the office in tri-color balloons. Flag hoisting & singing of the national anthem. Play patriotic songs/videos. Play a patriotic movie (Swades, Lagaan, Rang de Basanti) or a documentary on the Freedom Struggle. Distribute sweets of orange (motichur ladoos), white (pedas), and green (pista barfi) colors. Associates should be asked to dress in saffron, white, or green. Best-dressed contest for traditional wear. "Why are you proud to be an Indian?" contest. Slogan contest.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

A suggestion for Independence Day celebration is to provide poster colors, three bottles of the Indian tricolors, and a paintbrush. Allow office staff to paint the Indian tricolors on their faces or hands.

Hey soordass,

We HR professionals should show our laziness, yaar. We should say, "Everyone should show their patriotism by working on Independence Day." You can also add, "Take the HR department as your ideal in this case." :icon6::icon6::icon6:

Hi,

Have a voluntary blood donation at the nearest blood bank and follow it up with a buffet lunch somewhere. Call a defense person to your office and have him/her interact with your staff. Have fun.

Dear Jyothi,

How nice to hear that you want to celebrate Independence Day at your office. Many don't celebrate. India is really fortunate to have such people like you. At least it will motivate and inspire others to follow suit. Invite the employees as well as their families. This will boost the morale of the employees as you are treating their families as important people. This will earn goodwill. Ask one or two to narrate the significance of Independence Day. Let your staff remember, recollect, and know the sacrifices of people who gave freedom to us. Resolve to emulate them in deed and thought. It will be a fitting tribute to those great people.

Wish you all the best.

We had real fun today. I am at the office and a part of the celebration. The most interesting part was that there were emails sent to individual inboxes with questions about India, independence, culture, etc. The first person to reply to the email with the correct answer was getting a goodie. Real fun.

Hi Radha,

You can ask all of them to wear a white dress or national flag colors dress. Wearing this color dress makes the environment change. Allow each one to share the honest experience they had in their life. Sing patriotic songs, keep a flag at the entrance of the office. If you have any ex-serviceman in the office, ask him to give a small speech on the topic. Decorate the office with a few flowers and finally distribute sweets and have a cup of tea/coffee along with the staff members.

Kindly revert, telling us how did you celebrate 15th August in your office.

With regards,
Radha
