Go through the conditions mentioned on the back of the voucher. Meal vouchers should be accepted for "ready-to-eat items" only, not for alcohol. There are other vouchers available, i.e., gift vouchers, that you can use for purchases.

Hi,

You can sell it to some employees of your own company at a discount or, if you are on really good terms with people, ask them to help you by taking the vouchers and giving you cash in return. :-D

In big affiliated malls (Big Bazaar), they accept the meal card for purchasing anything under the roof. However, the meal card is now restricted for this reason. Sodexo food vouchers may need to be tried for buying other things than food in the same mall. You need to try out your wits in a straight and simple way. As per the law, you should use it only for buying food; it can't be redeemed for cash. :icon1:

Hi,

Sodexo can be used at:

1. Spencer's Store (to purchase all rations from there/everything available there).
2. Reliance Fresh (for everything available there).
3. Moreover, general stores (basically "Value Stores") also accept these meal passes.
4. McDonald's.
5. Pizza Hut.

This is as per my information. If anybody knows any other sources, please let us know.

You can ask the shopkeeper where Sodexo passes are accepted. They can encash them with a deduction of 7 to 8% charges. Otherwise, you may buy items from any shops as per the listed details of shops in your area/city.

Dear Sagar,

I am afraid you cannot make cash out of Sodexo Meal Coupons. The coupons themselves are as good as cash, and you can use them for paying your bills at Big Bazaar for food items, at Sabka Bazar, Reliance Fresh, and in numerous restaurants.

Best Wishes,

Hey.

Through personal experience, some local general stores do accept the Sodexo passes and give you cash in return after deducting a small commission. However, you need to be on good terms with the shopkeeper because it's not legal.

Hi, Had another query related to Sodexho vouchers. If we give Sodexho to our employee Rs. 50 per day as a part of their salary, is it exempted from Tax? Regards, Prachi

One more thing - you can approach some senior married lady employees or employees with kids, as they can easily spend more on food every month than they receive in vouchers. You can request them to do you the favor of taking your vouchers and give you cash in return.

Ask your HR to insist on adding some restaurants as Sodexo affiliates. This way, if there is an office party at such eating joints, you can use these vouchers instead of cash, whether you are the host or someone else. It does not matter; all bachelors' vouchers can be used at once in a party.

Any perks and benefits are always part of CTC, especially if it is so easy to calculate the monetary value!

Sodexo vouchers are always part of CTC, and they are tax-free. The limit can be flat across the company, or you can decide on a maximum and minimum limit for each grade to be given per month. For more details, you can discuss with Sodexo salespeople; they do half the work for you (advertising/clarifying/explaining to employees).

Thanks, Geeta

Hi all,

Sodexo vouchers can be exchanged for cash. I do it regularly. Get in touch with a small supermarket or grocery store that accepts Sodexo vouchers and ask them. However, they may charge you around 4-9%. As a regular customer of a supermarket in my locality, he only charges me 4%.

Happy encashing.

Hi Sagar, I would like to share with you my experience regarding Sodexo Coupons.

As per my knowledge, I don't think we can exchange cash for Sodexo. However, some local Kirana stores may accept Sodexo, but they deduct an amount or percentage while giving the exchange money. For example, if I give them a 2500 value Sodexo coupon, they will return approximately 2250 cash. This is what I have heard from people. You may want to find out those contacts.

Hi Sagar,

As far as I know, we can't exchange vouchers for cash. However, you can use them to purchase groceries at certain shops like Nilgiris and many others. Additionally, these vouchers can be used at restaurants such as Saravana Bhavan, although they cannot be redeemed for cash.

Dear all,

SODEXO food coupons, if you would check with your HR, are optional. This saves income tax on the coupons that you receive. Retailers found on the wrong foot would be penalized by SODEXO, and hence they do not resort to accepting it for anything other than food. This platform is for discussing and sharing professional thoughts. Let's not lose its charm by discussing shortcuts to make money. A HUMBLE REQUEST PLEASE!

Thanks for your understanding!

I wanted Sodexo or any other meal vouchers, for upto Rs. 15,000 approx.

I can pay the whole amount in lumpsum.

Pl let me know if you can send the coupons through courier & I can transfer the money online, immediately on the same day.

I’m expecting a small discount – share small portion of your IT savings – 10% discount is acceptable with me (you might be saving 30 to 33% IT savings.)
