Cost cutting is the talk of the day. Ram Leela me rachan ke 10 head cost-effective nahi hai. So, Salman hi achha hai (hope everyone knows he is famous for what). Cost cutting (wardrobe ka expense nahi hai).

Dear Harini,
I agree with what my friends have suggested but just wanted to know what kind of manufacturing you have and the size of your organization. It helps us to share our experience with you.

Dear Harini,
I liked the idea suggested by Mridulika. Remember, it has to be a cultural activity. Why don't you get an opinion poll done (during lunch and breaks) among different categories of employees? It will give you a fair idea of how to go about it. Also, it will be a democratic idea from the employees' perspective.
You can easily see the value of a democratic idea in an industrial or manufacturing setup. Generating ideas through employee participation in decision-making processes is a good tool for employee engagement and creating a sense of belongingness, whether these ideas are used broadly or not.

Dear Harini,
When you arrange cultural activities you should keep in mind that every one is been taken into consideration, there are many employees from different religion different region, different age group, different Grades and most important different Genders. So this part is most important than the arrangement.
As few members have already suggested few examples, I would like to just add few more.
The cultural program should be in combination of different activities and games
Games
Tug-of-war - Between different depts, Admin Staffs vs Prod Staffs or with different Grades.
Duck, Duck, Goose ! – For both Male/ Female employees
Rangoli Competition – For Females Employees
Matching Games – Tradition dress of there region
Concentration Games - For both Male/Female
Musical Chair – Group activity for Females
Performing Arts Programmes
Musical prog - Individual/Group
Dance prog - Individual/Group
Drama - Individual/Group
Other Programmes
Art and craft programs - For Female staffs
Sharing True Stories - Any individual
Cultural Trip
For the Staffs in a group
May be these help u in your cultural programs arrangements.

Dear Harini,
As a junior member of this CiteHR, I can suggest something to you. You can organize some cultural programs on the foundation day of your organization where you can engage all employees from different communities to participate in the program. Some members have already suggested different program names; you can select any one from them but keep in mind that everyone should participate in the program, including your boss.
You can also arrange a small drawing competition similar to "Taare Zameen Par." Perhaps you or your organization can find a star or a famous personality within your organization. Anyway, this is just a suggestion, but I can say if you go through with it, it will be enjoyable.
Thanks,

Dear Marini,
Many of our members have posted the best suggestions for you. If the motive is to organize cultural activities, then Traditional Day and The Traditional Ramp Show are nice ideas that you can consider conducting.
You can form teams where each can compete in Group Dance/Group Song representing various states, such as Punjabi Bhangra, Bengali dance, etc.
Presenting the diverse cultures of India on Cultural Day will make it a beautiful and enriching experience.
Thank you.

I worked with an organization from April 2008. They have not settled my account and have not issued me a final statement. However, they submitted to the Income Tax department the salary for three months (April, May, and June 2008) and paid Rs. 2000 as income tax for the year ended 2008-2009. Can they file like that without paying any amount to me? I will have to show this amount in my IT returns. Experts, please clarify. Regards, Dhanunjaya

Dear All,
I am currently seeking innovative ideas for cultural activities. I work at a Jewellery Manufacturing firm with 150 employees. I am interested in organizing activities that will help enhance their creativity. Unfortunately, a Traditional Day event may not be feasible as all production staff are required to wear uniforms before entering the factory.
Thank you and regards,
