Dear All,

I am doing my summer project in a SME on Training Need Analysis. The org is 20 years old, and the organizational structure is not as per the latest developments. The company is into spray painting, a manufacturing company.

Now, to identify training needs, the usual norms are through Performance Appraisals, job descriptions, or past training needs identified, etc. However, this being an old-fashioned company, Performance appraisals don't happen, and the JDs aren't well-defined. What they say are just the minimal educational qualification.

I have decided to write the Job Descriptions and find Training Needs simultaneously. Attached are the two questionnaires that I'd be using:
1. HOD Questionnaire - to be filled by HODs
2. Individual Questionnaire - to be filled by individuals in each department.

The following is my schedule:

Week 1,2 - Preliminary Research and Preparation of Questionnaire
Week 3,4 - One-on-One interaction with HODs and a few employees per department
Week 4,5 - Collection of Questionnaires
Week 5,6 - Preparation of Job Descriptions
Week 6,7 - Preparation of TNA and Training Calendar
Week 7 - Report and presentation to management.

I have three queries:
1. Am I going right?
2. Please view the questionnaires and assess whether any changes have to be made to customize it for an engineering firm.
3. Can someone give me sample Job Descriptions and Job Specifications?

All suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,
Divya Naidu
