Dear My Seniors,

Please help me with the following issue. Our company has two types of leaves: Casual and Medical leaves. Casual leave is 10 days per year, while Medical leave is 12 days per year (1 day per month).

I would like to understand how to calculate the total number of Casual and Medical leaves availed by an employee who starts in March. Is there a formula available to calculate leaves on a pro-rata basis?

Please guide me on this matter. It's urgent.

Thanks Like if an employees leaves starting from Feb What would be the total amount of leave he entitled to get in the particular year? (Medical and Casual)

You can use the following formula for calculating Casual & Medical leave:

[ text{Months x Entitlement/year} ]
[ 12 ]
i.e. to say his Casual leave entitlement will be = ( 10 times 10 / 12 = 8 ) days
and his Medical leave entitlement will be = ( 10 times 12 / 12 = 10 ) days
(ignore the fraction if it is less than 5 and increase by a day if it is > 5)

I hope the above clarifies your need.

Yes, you should calculate the number of leaves on total working days and get the average accordingly. Always start counting the leaves from January to December. If you are calculating from March, then there is no problem.

Entitlement of leave means the available leaves to employee. Year is on particular year. These all Judicial terms related with labour.
