Generally, the flow chart would be as follows: junior manager HR, manager HR, senior manager HR, general manager HR, vice president HR, and president HR. However, few companies may skip positions as per their requirements. Any other comments?

I guess if you are discussing HRD flowchart from the perspective of implementing IS, then divide the hierarchy on the basis of the subsystems of HR - Recruitment, Training, Compensation, Appraisal, and IR. For each subsystem, you can have hierarchy levels such as executive, senior executive, manager, senior manager, vice president, president HR. Depending upon the size of the organization, the level of hierarchy would vary.

I agree with Prof. Sahai in dividing the hierarchy based on the sub-functions of HR like Recruitment, T&D, Compensation, IR, or Employee Relations. However, I feel the best entry-level position would be as an Executive Trainee or Management Trainee. Many top corporates such as Hindustan Latex Ltd, NTPC, ONGC, GAIL, etc., recruit HR personnel as trainees and then shape them as needed. Once you surpass the age limit for these roles, it becomes challenging to be recruited by such prestigious companies, especially in the HRD department.

Where I worked last, this is the organizational structure for the HR Department: Executive - Senior Executive - Assistant Manager - Manager - Senior Manager - Assistant General Manager - Vice President - Senior Vice President.
Since there are 8 levels, you can easily guess that it is a manufacturing firm.
