I don't think anybody is thrilled by the article suggesting that future CEOs come from HR. I would like to hear a few thoughts on the competencies that HR professionals need to develop in order to become future CEOs.

Future CEO from HR is a very rational prediction. However, merely thinking and getting inspired by the contents of the article will not serve the purpose. I agree with J Antony Xavier and would emphasize that HR professionals should develop competencies and skill sets that can bring this prediction to fruition in the future. Apart from strategic partnering, HR professionals should also focus on understanding the business, its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
