I have structured the new policy for my company as follows:
- PL: 1.5 per month = 18 days
- CL: 0.5 per month = 6 days
- SL: 0.5 per month = 6 days

The total is 30 days, but the management wants to know about other policies that have been implemented in Pune. Can anyone suggest if there is an option to have a club sum of 20 days?

Please email me at [ramya@bioenabletech.com](mailto:ramya@bioenabletech.com) for any information.

Dear All,

The leave structure suggested by Ramya is okay. However, I feel the SL should be increased. I don't know about Pune, but companies usually have the following:

CL = 7 to 12 days (No accumulation. May or may not be encashable).

SL = 12 to 15 days (Accumulation allowed up to a maximum of 90 days. Some companies allow encashment up to a certain limit, but the majority do not).

PL = 1 day for every 15/20 days worked. Accumulation varies from 180 days to 240 days and is always encashable if the accumulation limit is exceeded or during a job switch.

Yes, you can combine all the leaves together. The provision for SL and CL is not mandatory under present laws, but EL/PL is mandatory. When framing a policy, always ensure to keep the number of PLs/ELs equal to or more than the statutory limit to avoid any trouble.

The applicable acts usually related to EL/PL are the Factories Act, Mines Act, Plantation Act, Shops and Establishment Act. Therefore, set the limit as per the applicable act and relevant state rules.

Another essential provision that must be included in the policy is maternity leave.

Please revert for further assistance.

Kind Regards,

Hi,

Another thing to keep in mind is the number of working days. If there are 5 working days per week, the allocated leave days are sufficient. However, if it is six days per week, a reassessment is necessary.

Additionally, the treatment of intervening holidays and weekly offs in leave calculations needs to be carefully considered when formulating the PL/EL policy. While CL & SL seem acceptable, it is noted that in some companies, CL is split between paid and unpaid leave. This allocation should be determined by management.

If you have any queries, please feel free to reach out.
