I absconded from MNC company in June during the probation period. They sent a few emails regarding show cause and disciplinary proceedings. They terminated me in October, and now they are asking me to pay 1 lakh for the notice period. What should I do?? Please help me.

Hi,
Have you signed any Training Agreement or Indemnity bond or something like that? Normally, when companies provide training to employees or impart some special skill set that involves a cost, in case of any breach of agreement, companies usually demand money for the breach of agreement. You have not mentioned why you left without informing your employer. Whatever the reason may be, it is not advisable to leave an organization without informing them.
Without knowing the type of agreement you had entered into with the company, it would be tough for members to comment on this.

Yes, I have signed a 2-year agreement bond. I have absconded due to some family issues. In the FnF slip, it is written that the Notice pay is $93,000/-. They have sent me an email asking me to pay the money within 10 days. If I don't pay, they will take action. I am scared now as I don't have the money to pay. Please tell me what I should do?

Hi,
Even if it is a family issue, you should have approached HR; they might have provided you with some suggestions. Have they given you training using licensed software?
It depends on the company. Some may follow procedures vigorously, while some companies, to close the file, will send you some communications and then close the file.
Now, you have two options. Talk to HR and explain that due to some health issues, you are not in a position to continue. You can communicate verbally or through a registered post acknowledgment due (RPAD) letter. You will also need some medical proof.
Even if the company files a civil case, they need to prove in court the money incurred by them towards training you.
Hope you have not submitted any security cheque (undated) with them. If so, they will deposit the cheque, and after it is dishonored, they will file a criminal case against you. This is very important.
In the worst case, if you change your address, all communications will bounce back to them, and they will close the file. I'm not supposed to suggest this option, but I have seen cases like this recently.

I have attended a 2-month online training program. The entire process took place virtually. The training was conducted online, and all documents were submitted in PDF format. I have never physically visited the company.
During the training period, the trainer covered various topics and assigned tasks. It is an MNC company.
