Actually, one employee is on a probation period. His probation completion date is 12th September, but the employer wants to terminate his employment due to poor performance. However, the employer has given him one month to search for another job. Can you please assist with drafting the termination letter?

I am failed to understand the viewpoint of your employer. An employee, after appointment, is placed on probation for a period of 3 months, 6 months, or for one year (in some companies).

When we say a probationer, it means he is not fully equipped with (or rather competent enough) for delivering the goods or bringing results. It is during the probation period that an employee is learning about his job, his department, interaction with the HOD and other department colleagues, work environment in the company, policies and programs of the company, HR policies, etc.

Periodical reviews and evaluations of performance are conducted by the management on a bi-monthly or tri-monthly basis. Shortfalls in performance are communicated to him, and he is mentored to improve his performance.

So, when the performance of a probationer is not up to the mark, you can extend his probation.

Thanks.

Why you want to issue him letter? Probationer can be terminated any point of time of his probation period by issuing him non performance letter...thats it.
