Hello Respected HRs,

I want to rejoin a company, but I left that company on a bad note due to a disagreement with my manager a year ago. She asked me to serve a notice period, which I felt was unjust as no one had served notice periods before. Instead, I opted for a Buyout. Currently, rehiring checks are in progress, but she is not approving my request. She has blocked me from all communication channels, making it impossible to initiate any form of reconciliation.

Can you please suggest what steps I should take at this point?

By your own admission, you had left your immediate preceding company on a bitter note just a year ago. Now, what exactly are the compelling circumstances that make you want to rejoin the company?

Life is non-linear and unpredictable. Therefore, it is better to leave the door ajar that could lead to a re-entry. However, your conflict with the manager has firmly closed the door of the previous company. Your reporting manager is ensuring that the doors are closed permanently as well.

There is no clear solution to this problem. Any other manager in her place would have reacted similarly. Just imagine any manager in her position. They too would likely frustrate your efforts to rejoin. How awkward would it be for the Manager to face you? While children may forget and reconcile after a fight, it is uncomfortable or restrictive for adults.

Therefore, the only suggestion that can be given is to let go of the situation and attempt to find a job elsewhere.

I do agree with @DineshDivekar sir, especially that you had a bad incident with that particular manager. Unless you are able to mend the past misunderstanding, whatever it may be, with that person, it looks like there is no option for you. If you are not getting an audience with the manager, then it is best to leave it to the discretion of the other senior management people within that organization to make a decision about your re-entry. Of course, the management will evaluate who is more important to them, whether it is the manager or you, before they make their decision. You will have to accept whatever decision is made.
