In continuation of the above-stated, please find the judgment in this regard. Further, the judgment would have been more appreciated if it had been passed more quickly. Subsequently, in March 2018, another notification from the Delhi Government was issued, which remains unchallenged. Moreover, in the interim order, no stay was granted by the Honorable Court.

On one hand, it is asserted that the wages already paid are not recoverable; on the other hand, as a consequence, the employer who has already implemented this stands frustrated. However, in either case, it is the workmen who will lose out, as the employers may not increase their wages in the next one or two years. Due to this, with a certain increase in earning levels, the workmen have also increased their consumption levels. Therefore, there may be chances of economic disharmony, posing a significant challenge for stakeholders in the field of industrial relations and labor laws.

Dear Members,

As per reports, the Delhi Govt is planning to appeal against the verdict in the SC. In any case, there has been no increase for quite some time, and now if the SC is approached, the increase—whatever % that was otherwise due—will be in limbo.
