Need a suggestion from you. I have received an offer from my past company to join again, and I have agreed to it. They said they were happy with my performance and would like me to stay with them for a long period. I would like to know, is it a good idea to rejoin an old company.

Mandy, if your exit was clear without any issues, you were comfortable during your stay with the company, the working environment was good, and your pay package was satisfactory, then there is nothing wrong with rejoining.

As for a long-term stay, I believe you should clearly communicate your satisfaction with the work environment, pay package, etc. You can express your intention to continue, but at the same time, you should commit to a minimum period, such as 1 or 2 years, and adhere strictly to that.

Thanks and regards,

Examine why you left. Have those reasons been addressed? What is the offer you have received from the same company now? Is there any reason to call you back? As per your record, it was good, but you left. So, why did the company not hold you back or try to change your mind at that stage? How much time has passed since you left? How are things with your current employer in terms of your career and learning? Take a holistic view in the long term. Planning to leave after a year or so does not make sense.

It's good news because even though you left, they are willing to take you back again. This means you are so valuable and profitable to them that they are affected by the thought of losing you. Indirectly, you secure a permanent job with them, and they will be willing to fulfill any of your demands. Be happy - you are the hero.
