If the salary has been revised with effect from September 2017, exceeding the upper limit of ESIC INR 21,000/-, and arrears were provided in the November 2017 salary, but the company had already deducted ESIC contributions from September 2017 to November 2017. Do we need to continue deducting the ESIC amount? Can we cease deductions and refund from September 2017 onwards?

Dear Arti,
As the salary was revised in November 2017, and you have already paid contributions until November 2017, you need to continue paying ESIC contributions until March 2017. You can stop the contribution for the said employee only from April 2017 onwards.
