If the concern does not pay you at the end of the month or pays a paltry amount, what will you do if anything goes wrong with you? How do you prove that you are working in X agency since you have no proof of employment? Now, you decide what you should do. In my opinion, you should not step in without an appointment letter.

What is stated above is absolutely correct. Everything must be in writing. However, if you are satisfied with your job and working conditions of the employment that is committed to you, go ahead. It is in the private sector. I have seen many prominent companies that provide every employment document to employees, but not all follow the system and adopt unfair labor practices.

Howsoever desperate you may be, never ever take on a job without the appointment letter. This is a legal document between you and the employer (signed by both) and incorporates the terms and conditions of employment.

In the absence of this ALL VALUABLE AGREEMENT, the 'employer' can come up with 'anything' against you, and you'd be in for big trouble. Look before you leap!
