I am new to the Citehr community and have questions regarding my job. Currently, I am working with a contractor who is a labor supplier on a large scale. At present, he has assigned me the task of managing leaves. Eventually, he will also assign me tasks related to PF, ESI, various challans, and other legal procedures. So, could my experience be considered valid for an HR role?

Furthermore, he has been paying me my salary in cash without providing a payslip. This situation is causing me some concern. I am learning something new every day, so please help me, experts.

What other aspects should I consider regarding my job?

Sir,

1. You must study various labor laws that are applicable to your establishment. Copies of various labor laws can be downloaded from the website of the Ministry of Labor & Employment and also from the concerned departments of the State Government where your establishment is located.

2. It would also be beneficial if you study HR literature on the subject.

Thank you so much for your crucial suggestion. I will surely follow it. But couldn't I know if my experience will be preferable or not when I leave this job? My contractor will not provide a salary slip; he will only provide me with an experience certificate.

Thank you for your crucial suggestions. However, my main query is that my contractor will not give me a salary slip. So, will my experience count in another company? When I leave the office, they will provide me only with an experience certificate. Would this be preferable?

Dear Parth,

Knowing labor laws as well as their application in the practical field will enhance your knowledge, which is a part of HR activity. The main concern is that your employer is not issuing you a payslip, and probably they are paying your wages in cash. It is not clear from your comments whether you have received any appointment letter or not. It is also unclear whether you are signing the wage sheet while disbursing your wages in cash. Are you a member of PF and ESI?

Under the above circumstances, you should thoroughly learn all labor laws applicable in your organization and look for a suitable opening or change in due course. Don't get upset at this juncture but try to find a better opportunity.

I have recently joined this organization. However, sir, my question is: my employer didn't give me any appointment letter for the job, and he will not provide me with any payslip. So, if I leave my job after gaining 1 or 2 years of experience, will my experience be considered valuable or not?
