Hello Seniors, Please suggest the latest and most economic method of seeking job applicant in small and developing city like Jabalpur.
From India, Bhopal

Dear Deepti,

Hiring techniques vary from profile to profile and industry to industry. For example, if you are hiring for a Senior profile, you can use LinkedIn or other professional sites, or tap into employees of competitors to create links and get good references. However, if you are hiring for ground-level openings, you also need to be hands-on. This can involve campus hiring, utilizing free job posting sites, or seeking employee referrals.

It appears that you need to hire a large team. Therefore, start posting jobs on platforms like Indeed, OLX, Quikr, Careesma, and many others available. Additionally, contact free consultants who charge candidates; obtain printouts of the latest openings and ask your office assistant to post them in relevant locations such as colleges and computer institutes. Ensure that this task is completed efficiently. With exams ending soon, reach out to local colleges to gather data on candidates seeking job opportunities.

There are numerous recruitment methods available. Consider what best suits your needs.

Good Luck!

Thank you, Lavika, for your valuable suggestion. I am really facing a lot of problems in seeking the right candidates. I have already used and am currently using platforms like Indeed, Careesma, OLX, Quikr, and many more. I have also contacted some consultancies, but the matter has not been resolved yet.

Could you please provide me with a brief overview of campus hiring?

Regards,
Deepti

Hello Lavika,

I am looking to hire content writers with an excellent command of English and good communication skills. Our company is client-based in the IT sector, and we regularly receive projects from clients based in various countries around the world. Therefore, we are constantly in need of qualified candidates.

Hey,

Thanks for your response. See, you can hire freelance content writers from other locations. If you are looking for a full-time writer, you can do one thing. You can hire a very experienced content writer at a slightly higher package and then give them a training profile.

For example, during the months when exams are over and school or college students are free, you can start on-the-job training for these students. Conduct interviews for candidates who are studying Functional English or Elective English. Administer a grammar test, and those who perform well can be hired as trainees. Offer a stipend of $1000-$2000. They will receive training and write content for you on some easier sites and products. This approach will benefit you in two scenarios. Firstly, they will work for you at a nominal cost, justifying the hiring of a costly content writer for training. Secondly, you will prepare a backup for yourself, as these trainees can serve you in the future.

Another option is to leverage developers and designers already working in your company. Encourage them to enhance their writing skills and contribute to content writing in their spare time. Organize a writing competition as an employee engagement activity. Those who write well can be invited for a meeting to discuss the possibility of working in a dual role. Not only developers, but people in other roles can also work as content writers if they have the necessary skills. For instance, when I was working in an IT company a few years ago, our Front Office Executive was writing content for the company, earning extra compensation. Smart work can quickly resolve this issue.

All the best!

Hi Lavika,

I really appreciate your ideas. We have already worked on that; the designers and developers are fully occupied with their work, so they are not very good with content writing. We already have training staff with high salaries but require trainees. Actually, the location of our company is also an issue as it is a bit outward from the main city. We only hire full-time content writers. Since we are working with clients, we don't consider students pursuing courses. I tried to contact a few colleges, but they already have their placement cells and are not interested in our proposal.

Your query sounds more like a request for a recipe - an easy, quick, and economical way of making noodles! I hate to break it to you that the recruitment process is not any of those things. It is difficult, time-consuming, and mentally grueling.

The answer to your query cannot be given unless you specify more details. What sort of setup do you work for? Which industry? Employee strength? Strength of the HR department? What sort of hiring do you do?

Aditya Ji,

I know that the recruitment process is difficult, time-consuming, and mentally grueling. That's why I am posting this thread to seek suggestions from respected seniors. If you need more information about my query to provide valuable suggestions, please ask in a different manner rather than criticizing my query. I am new to this profile and facing challenges, so I am simply seeking suggestions.

Hello Deepti,

The task of getting content writers is going to be tough, that's because of two reasons. First, honest and good writers are hard to come by. I have conducted English training in one of JBP colleges and it was quite an experience, let's not even get there. Even if you want to get freelancers, I doubt if they would be willing to work, considering what companies can offer in Jabalpur. As far as my knowledge goes, Jabalpur has only two companies that work in the SEO field and require content writers, V India and SAG. None pay well especially for freelance writing. V India is family-controlled with a bureaucratic structure, and SAG is way too small; I wonder if it's even a registered Pvt Ltd company. Both have had major problems with retaining good talent and have lost good writers recently. Neither of them is willing to offer appropriate market rates for writing services. However, both have in the past managed to recruit good writers by changing their hiring platforms. I can give you a reference in Nagpur, and you can get a freelancer on contract.

As Lavika suggested, organizing a writing contest in, say, an MBA or a Mass Comm college can get you some good talent. The format has to be created smartly and in such a way that you can filter out and get some really good entries. I have seen it work successfully in another small SEO firm owned by my friend here.

Dear Dipti,

I find it ironic that you tell me to write properly when your own query is half-baked and incomplete. Nevertheless, I take no offense. In order to provide robust feedback, one needs complete information (which is missing in your post); hence the feedback given itself is based on a wrong premise. Anyway, I hope you realize that and communicate clearly in the future.

Hello,

Naukri.com is a good place for Indian enterprises and Indian job seekers. Moreover, it is quite economically priced, and we have been using it quite frequently for our company E Com Street Infoservices (India) Pvt. Ltd. located in Noida, UP. We get quite a good response immediately from the job seekers. Previously, we used to engage some HR consultants who charged quite a handsome amount, and still, the response was not so appreciable. So, why don't you try it once for your location too?

Hello Mahavir,

Thank you so much for your suggestion. In fact, I had a discussion with the representative of Naukri.com yesterday and forwarded their proposal to my MD. I am now waiting for their response. Well, thanks again.
