Hi, I have to pay ESI PENALTY Interest. All the other Monthly contribution is already paid but the ESI Penalty is the only thing which I need to pay. Where and how do I do it online.

First of all, log in to the ESIC site. Then there is an option for omitted wages and challan. Click it, and the forms will appear. Fill in the description "against C-19I (PERIOD FROM & TO) CHEQUE NO., cheque date, bank name, and branch name, and submit. The challan will come out. First, save it and take a print. I think it is clear to you.

Dear all,

I am Ashok and I work in a construction company. Recently, an ESI officer came to the office asking about the registration of ESI. However, we do not have registration in ESI. We have private health plans but it is required to take care of ESI registration for regular employees. We have 100 employees working. Please kindly suggest.

Dear Ratnakar,

You must have received a letter from the ESIC Dept regarding Interest and Damages.

As per the instructions in the letter, the challan must be paid under the specified heading.

When you log in to the website, navigate to the link for Recovery/Defaulter Challan and do not skip Wages.

In the drop-down menu, you will see a list of various challan heads, such as C-18(i) for Interest, D-18 for damages, etc.

Choose the relevant challan head and proceed to generate the challan.

If you are unsure about the head, feel free to send me the softcopy of the letter, and I will guide you through the process.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Thank you.

  • But Manasi,

The way you are explaining is incorrect. When I enter the amount, it shows that the entered amount is greater than the selected amount. This is because there is no amount in C-18. However, I received a letter regarding this.

To pay penalty interest for ESIC, just log in to www.esic.in web portal. After logging in with your credentials, go to the link Recovery-Defaulter. You will find a drop-down option at the top left; select the 18(i) from the drop-down and click the submit button. You will then get the list of your late payment details with the total interest to be paid. Once you have this information, you can proceed with your payment option at the bottom of the screen (Offline/Online). If you have a current account with State Bank of India, you can proceed with online payment (provided you have internet banking enabled). Otherwise, you may go with offline payment, for which you need to fill out your cheque and bank details for making the offline payment.

I hope this information helps you to make your delayed (interest) payment of ESIC.

    Thanks

  • Dear Seniors,

Kindly advise on the below query. We have to pay ESIC Interest & Damages charges for late payment. I have selected the Defaulter/Recovery challan option and tried to pay Interest under C-18i and Damages under D-18, but both windows are non-editable, and I am unable to enter payment details. Screen shots are also attached.

I request your guidance on how to make the payment online.

    Thank you.

(Fact Checked)-The process for paying ESIC interest and damages online involves filling out the C-18i and D-18 forms. The non-editable issue may be due to incorrect form selection or technical glitches. Check the form selection and try again for successful payment. (1 Acknowledge point)

  • As per the new update on the ESIC portal, we can only file a return for the 42 days from the due date of the return. However, there is a technical issue, and we have not filed it. Now, when I am filing, a pop-up appears stating that you cannot file a return after 42 days from the due date, and there is no proper solution provided for this scenario. Kindly revert if anyone knows the solution for the same.
