Hi all,

I need help on how I can work as an HR intern. I am currently pursuing my course at Bhartiya Vidhya Bhawan, and I am struggling to figure out how to transition as my previous experience has been in the BPO industry, with 2 years as a trainer and 1 year as an executive. Please advise.

You have already worked as a trainer. Training is a function of HR. Were you a part of process training which is more on the operations side? Focus on the areas that you delivered as a Trainer. Focus on building the content, pre and post-training assessment, methodologies used for those training programs, and supporting underperformers. Share how you dealt with escalations such as training under a tight schedule, even when it was not aligned with the learning cycle of your trainees. Connect these experiences to theory so that it's easier to decipher them in different environments.

You are likely to find employment with training firms that need support to develop content. Delivering them will eventually happen once you are ready. Wish you all the best! Pray you find the best opportunity to develop yourself further.

Please connect with Tackyon; they develop training programs for HR. It would be an ideal opportunity for you as you can work as an intern and gain expertise in various areas while developing content. Connect with them and see how you can add value to them. Let me know if you need any help.

Hi Anil Arora Sir,

I have 3 years of experience in the BPO sector, with 2 years as a process trainer for the debt collection process and one year as a business support advisor. Currently, I am studying at Bhartiya Vidhya Bhawan for the course of Industrial Relations and Personnel Management. However, since my background experience is in BPO, I am finding it hard to work as an HR intern.

Thank you.

Hello Swati,

Your three years of experience will be valuable when you pursue a role as an HR intern, particularly in Communication and Interpersonal Skills. You can build on your experience. As an HR intern, you will certainly be under the guidance of seniors and will also have a structured program. Regardless of your past experiences, you will gain new learnings as an HR intern.
