Hi Team,

Why don't we have an Android application for CITEHR? I know this is a very good site with which I have been in contact for the last 2-3 years, but I really don't get much time to check the posts, which I intend to do. If possible, we can have an Android app for CITEHR, which will make it accessible to us everywhere.

Hello, Definitely seems to be a good idea/suggestion. Have referred this to the Moderators — let’s wait to hear from them. Rgds, TS

There is a way to do this easily, but we need to see more interest to take the plunge - as it would require us to invest in some extra software. We've not done this so far as it seems that a lot of the material in this community is either text-heavy or downloadable attachments - both not very mobile-friendly.

However, I do see the value in being able to quickly check updates and new threads in the community. I will look into it, in any case, but would like to hear from members who are interested in this.

Greetings,

I have a few questions and wish to understand the usage of mobile apps. What do you use them mostly for? Is it to ask a quick question, to connect with others, or to validate information? Perhaps even for live microblogging!

If you are conducting any research, documents would be required. Your response could help us prioritize those areas. Personally, I use community apps on Nokia, which only allows me to tweet. Google and Maps are the next most frequently used apps for me. I am looking forward to hearing more from our members on this.

Thank you.

Hi CiteHR,

It's really a good idea. As the HR Department will be the first to host an Android App compared to other departments. CiteHR team, kindly take this request so that it will be more user-friendly. As we are addicted to this site, it will be easy to access from our mobile.

Greeting of the day,

Well I am also not in favor to use Android or any other mobile app for CiteHR. Although we knows that using by app is really an easy and friendly way to connect with it all the time but we must also not forget that our CiteHR is a professional place and there are many things which can’t be use more frequently by mobile app like we can use via web. In addition, CiteHR, must not be treated like social or other micro-blogging sites (Facebook and Twitter or other).

Sharing, asking question or to look for the answers of queries one can also do the same by using Mobile Web access if one want which is an easy option and we always having.

I agree with our Administrator and Moderator that the material are available here or we are exchanging daily, cant be done so easily by using mobile app which actually helping us a lot in many ways. However, I buy that very person has his/her own views about mobile applications and websites. It depends on whether one sees the advantages of it or disadvantages. I also personally do not feel that applications are a disruptive force but rather have become an integrated part of our daily lives, adding convenience to our daily routine. Moreover, I am also using many apps in my BlackBerry phone but still professionally, I would never like to mix it with my social life and activities or feel not comfortable in using CiteHR while roaming around.

I love this place and love to be here or say wanna spent my time for learning and sharing myself here as much as I can but still I feel that I can’t give my all the time.

One also need to sit and feel comfortable while sharing, responding or come on CiteHR with a mind/concern that cant always be have while roaming. Just think about it.

I second Ms (Cite Contribution) would like to ask few questions here..

-How much time you are spending with your mobile by using Facebook, Twitter and other social/Micro blogging site and other and,

-How much time you are giving to yourself or your professional with learning and sharing

-And do you really feel like you can spent a good time that you require and talking about with CiteHR via App

Lastly, I personally wont demand any app from CiteHR

Actually, we've discussed this :) The cost of building an Android app is too high, and this network is not that profitable. The app will be developed - we'll just have to save up the money to be able to do it.

Greetings to all.

About the App for CiteHR: I would start with a question today.

My Question: Can't we use our CiteHR through a Mobile Browser?

Well, I am a mobile and web user of CiteHR and have no issues with it. I won't deny the effectiveness of apps that are quick and easy to use like Facebook, Twitter, and other Social/Professional/Commercial sites, but Mobile browsing can also be used for CiteHR if one wants.

Another question to all the people who are interested in using CiteHR on Mobile and asking for a Mobile App for CiteHR:

How many of you have used/are using CiteHR through a Mobile Browser?

Let me share something with you all. I am a professional and researcher, and most of the time (usually on weekends), I used to be on tour for professional and official purposes. Due to this traveling, sometimes I check my notifications, subscribe to posts, read/learn, and post through my BlackBerry Mobile Browser.

To be honest, before posting this response, I got an update/notification about this post and was reading on the mobile browser while I was in the library cafeteria with my teammates. Now, I am at my desk and replying to you. It was not too difficult for me to read and learn from the Mobile Browser and also to reply. However, I accept that it may not be as easy for all of you to do the same, but still, Mobile Browsing can help you a lot if you try.

I hope I have made myself clear about the question of the App.

Dear Anil,

I too check the emails and CiteHR site threads and their replies using my mobile while on the move. I have never faced any difficulty in browsing. However, I am not familiar with typing replies from my mobile. Therefore, just by replying to one thread, I already feel tired. I am only browsing and not replying using my mobile.
