please let me know, while calculating the number of days worked in a month, should we consider weekly off day as days worked.

Yes, weekly offs are paid leave. Most organizations take the number of calendar days in a month as the number of days in a month for salary calculation, meaning it would vary between 28, 29, 30, or 31 days depending on the month. Some organizations maintain a standard 30-day format regardless of the actual number of days in the calendar month. I hope this clarifies any doubts. :)

Dear friends,
My answer is yes. The weekly off day is already considered as days worked when we divide the monthly wage or minimum wage by 26 days. Hence, payment of the statutory weekly off day is already included in the per day wages.

Dear All,
However, it also depends on the wage paid. In some companies, especially older organizations, blue-collar employees are paid on a daily basis. In this scenario, the worker receives wages for the days worked and not for weekly offs.

Dear all,
In manufacturing operations, a wage month is presumed to have 26 actual working days and 208 working hours (26 x 8). Calculation of wages, incentives, etc., is based on this premise. In some months, there could be 27 working days, and for such months, the calculation is varied accordingly. The weekly off is excluded for wage calculation purposes for the blue-collar workers. However, for ministerial staff and executives who are paid a salary, the month comprises all days, including the weekly off.
Hope the above clarifies.

Abuhrd,
When you are paying salary for 26 days, you are not including Sunday/Saturday or your weekly offs for the month. This practice means the salary is not paid for the whole month but only for the working days of the month. Ideally, salary should be paid for 30 days of the month, including the weekly offs. A salaried employee is not a laborer to receive his salary for working days.
Hope it was of help... :)

When any person enters the factory premises for work purposes, they may be referred to as an employee or a worker. According to the factory act, the working hours are fixed at 48 hours per week and 8 hours per day. After working for six days (48 hours), the individual may be eligible for a rest day. Therefore, having an off day is necessary.
