I just want to know if I am going in the right direction by considering this opportunity. Can I join the hospital for this role? Seniors, please help me. I need your guidance.

All Citehr Users,

My question to all of my HR professionals is that most of the contracts in India do not pay the overtime wages rate as per the Factory Act 1948, which is twice the ordinary rate. What should we do against them? I spoke to contract workers, and they said that overtime wages are only a single rate of the ordinary rate. Please help me out.

Dear Ari,

Thank you for the reply. In my previous company, I was solely responsible for recruitment, and I did not have the opportunity to learn anything beyond that. When I inquired about my roles and responsibilities at the hospital, they informed me that in addition to recruitment, I would also be handling payroll duties.

Hi Karthika,

It is completely your own choice where you want to pursue your career. You are at the beginning of your career and have the opportunity to diversify your portfolio. Moreover, HR is not industry-specific; the important aspect is where you see yourself in the future. You can compare both positions based on the job profile, companies, future prospects, monetary benefits, scope of learning, etc. However, choose wisely as one decision will shape your career accordingly.

Dear Ari,

The hospital was initially started in Trichy, and now they have opened branches in Madurai and Chennai. They have hired a fresher for Madurai and me for Chennai. The hospital is AG Eye Care Hospital. I don't think there are many people in the HR Department.

Hi Karthika,

It's your knowledge, capabilities, and experience that take you places. Your question clarifies that you are doubtful about diversifying your career and want to pursue it with corporate organizations. Talent acquisition is different in these two industries, although the concept remains the same. Therefore, it may be challenging for you to transition back to the corporate sector as you will be moving into a different industry again. Take your time to think it through before making a decision.

Best of luck!

Dear Mr. Karthik,

I have gone through the mails. One important thing I want to bring to your notice is that you can excel anywhere, but it depends on your approach and adaptability.

In the hospital industry, there is a lot of scope, and nowadays, it is one industry that is going to be on top gear. You can engage in various HR activities there. In addition to recruiting lower-level staff, you should also recruit highly skilled technicians in Radiology, Pathology, Nuclear medicine, and doctors. Nowadays, many multinationals are focusing on the healthcare industry.

You can also work on multis killing, career planning, knowledge development, job rotation, employee and customer satisfaction. All these aspects depend on your interest and initiatives. Retention (employee and customer) is a critical factor. You need to focus heavily on employee behavior factors. Satisfaction surveys make a significant difference for both the individual and the organization's existence.

Statutory and regulatory compliance is another major factor because customers expect ISO, NABL, PNDT, NAHL, etc., in addition to statutory compliances. Hygiene is also a crucial factor.

You have a lot of scope. I wish you all the best.

Hi dear Karthika,

As per your request, my suggestion is to please continue your job for at least 2 more months so that you can complete your two-year career. This experience will be useful for your future.

Okay, all the best for your career.

Dear seniors,

I'm Swayam, currently in my final year of MPM HR. I don't have any prior experience, and I'm not expecting a high salary, but rather a good working environment. I have a keen interest in the hospitality sector and have already attended 7-8 interviews in this field. Could you please suggest where I might be lacking?

Thank you.
