Dear All,

Please help me! And please don't get me wrong for all my actions. We have a new manager on a relocation basis in our company. Until then, everything was fine, and all my colleagues enjoyed working, but after this "Hitler," we are all doomed and can't handle bullying behavior. Please give some advice on how to handle and work it out with these kinds of managers.

Thank you in advance.

Sincerely,
Ben

Hi Ben,

Here are a few tips:

1. Be assertive and don't tolerate any disrespectful behavior from him.
2. Keep your work up to date.
3. Consider talking to his boss about the situation.
4. Send him a formal email outlining specific instances where you have felt uncomfortable, such as when he shouts or uses foul language.
5. Consider recording his behavior discreetly, for example, using a camera on your cell phone.
6. Stay united with your colleagues.
7. Show compassion and understanding towards him, try to build a positive relationship, and keep him in your thoughts.

Remember, it's important to address any issues in a professional and respectful manner.

Hi Ben,

All these individuals displaying traits similar to Hitler are short-tempered, and unknowingly, they may end up making serious mistakes. We should wait for the right moment, and when the opportunity arises, we must take action. Until then, it is crucial for all of us to stand united.

As Mr. Atul Sharma rightly pointed out, it would be wise to send subtle indications to his superior.

Hi Ben,

You have to find out what makes him tick. Remember, there are people with different perceptions and experiences. You need to understand what he wants and modify (where possible) the way you work. For example, I work completely process-based and need work to be done following laid-out processes. Any deviation will result in reprimand. If you do not want to follow the procedure, you need to come and explain, and only with approval is a deviation allowed, or the procedure itself might permanently change.

For someone not accustomed to our way of working, it's a nightmare. But once you figure out what is expected of you, things are smooth.

This was an example. The manager may have his way of working, monitoring, etc. I know some who are irritated with repeated status updates and others frustrated with the lack of updates.

So, if possible, all of you approach him together with a request to guide you on how you should work. Tell him you want to understand what is expected of you so that you can be more efficient.

Hope that helps.
