Can anyone help me with the calculation of the labor welfare fund?
Well, I know the basic rates which are as follows:
Employees' Contribution: 0.75 paise
Employer Contribution: 2.25 paise
I just want to know how to calculate the labor welfare fund contribution of employees if we have 205 staff employees (excluding supervisory and managerial grades) in a particular month, say January 2011?

Dear Ms. Pooja,
Thank you for your reply. I am aware that it varies from state to state.
As you mentioned, we are required to multiply the rate by the number of employees. How does this apply to the concept of every 6 months?
In terms of the Delhi Labour welfare rate, it is 0.75 paisa for employees and 2.25 paisa for employers for every 6 months. Could you please clarify the significance of the 6-month period and explain how to proceed accordingly?
Thank you for your assistance.

Dear Mr. Lakra,
'Number of employees as on 30th June of every year'?
It means the total number of employees from January to June would be taken if we are calculating for 6 months. As you might have known, we need to calculate the half-yearly welfare fund.
Then, the total number of employees would be the addition of, e.g., 201 + 203 + 200 + 198 + 197 + 206 (January to June). Is that correct?
Do we need to calculate monthly fund or as of 30th June (if we are submitting half-yearly fund)?
Can you please give me an example of the calculation of the welfare fund if we are having the above said number of employees (Staff Category)?
Awaiting your reply.

Dear Mr. Rohit,
I understand 'Number of employees as on 30th June of every year' means the number of employees on the payroll as of 30th June, say 206. So, Rs. 0.75 paisa x 206 employees = Rs. 155.00. Returns to be submitted in FORM 'A' [See Rule 3(4)].

Dear Mr. Lakra,
Thank you for your valuable reply.
So, the employee contribution would be Rs. 155.00 (if we have 206 employees under the staff category as of June 30th), and the employer contribution would be Rs. 463.50 (2.25 * 206).
There is no need to calculate the fund on a monthly basis.
For example, (Employee contribution):
Jan. - 206 * 0.75
Feb. - 202 * 0.75
Mar. - 198 * 0.75
Apr. - 208 * 0.75 (as the number of employees under the staff category will vary monthly)
May - 212 * 0.75
Jun. - 207 * 0.75
TOTAL = Rs. 924.75
Would Rs. 924.75 be the employee contribution, or as of June, i.e., 207 * 0.75 = Rs. 155.25? Please discuss.
I am awaiting your reply.
