Dear Seniors,

I joined this company in August, and I'm the only HR here. I want to do something special on the occasion of Diwali for my employees. I am looking for some good ideas to celebrate Diwali here.

Dear Sonal,

You don't say that Diwali is the only occasion; it is the best opportunity to connect with employees. There are many options such as celebrations, watching, and sweets. You can find what is suitable for your company.

Hi Sonal, You can organize dance, singing, rangoli competition, musical chair, traditional dress. These are small things but makes a lot of difference. Thanks Anju

Give 3 months salary as Diwali bonus, your employees will definitely be delighted. No need of celebs. Pon

Hi Sonal, even in my college, I'm celebrating Diwali celebrations. You can keep some contests such as debate or speech, or an ethnic wear style dress day, which can make a difference for one day from the boring usual working day.

Dear Sonal,

I think this is a great opportunity for bonding and enhancing self-esteem. You could have competitions with good prizes as follows:

1. Creativity - with Diwali as the theme.
2. A cultural show.
3. An exciting meal.

Depending on the strength of employees, you could divide them into teams of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 or more, but always an odd number.

Best of luck!

You can have some competitions such as table decoration, rangoli, best dressed male and female (traditional dresses) and distribute prizes for 1st and 2nd place. If it's a small organization, you can also order lunch and distribute sweets or gifts to everyone.

First decide the budget - get it approved and then think...How many employees are there...? What is the company setup - is there any place wherein u all can have lunch together..?

First, get your office decorated with flowers, balloons, rangoli, and lamps. Then you may organize tombola, musical chairs, etc. Finally, have lunch/dinner or refreshments (based on the budget) and definitely give gifts or some sweets to employees.

Hi Sonal,

You can request all the employees to come in their Ethnic wear, and you can arrange for a decent ramp walk in your department itself. A small stretch to walk at least 15 steps. The best-dressed with the best attitude on the ramp walk would win a prize.
