Greetings,

Line HR is often referred to as an HR Generalist. It deals with entry to exit HR processes. It doesn't include recruitment, training, payroll, and legal responsibilities. However, it acts as a coordinator at an initial level and an HR business partner to the Business unit at a senior level.

Line HR is intertwined closest with Employee Engagement. The strategic HR team would define policies and processes, and Line HR follows and implements them. It may provide the data required by these other verticals for making decisions.

Certain responsibilities are as discussed below:

- To implement HR policies and ensure employee welfare benefits as per the HR manual.
- To ensure and maintain Statutory Compliance as directed by the legal team. Ensure adherence to the disciplinary guidelines and code of conduct of the company.
- To manage escalations and maintain cordial relations with internal stakeholders, business leaders, and clients.
- To monitor mobilization/demobilization of identified manpower for the Project and support the resource management team.
- To ensure that employees' Performance appraisal forms (at the time of annual appraisal/probation & contract completion) reach corporate HR on time.
- To ensure that identified/nominated employees are deputed to attend training programs, Induction program, etc., as and when intimated by the Training and development team.
- To administer Leave Management System, deliver salary reports, Overtime statements to the Payroll Team, as per the specified timelines.
- To inform the Finance Team about resignations/separations of employees and process resignation letter/exit interview report/clearance certificate for necessary action.

Dear Friends, Thanks For your immediate reply. But i Would like to know the broad meaning of HR Generalist............... Kindly define and give the reply......... Regards Srinivas B

Dear Srinivas,

As the role of an HR professional in an organization has become vital and the need for the HR team to be strategic partners in the growth of an organization has become imperative, an HR Generalist is regarded as a person who brings on board the right kind of people, looks into the well-being of the employees, works towards the overall development of the employees and the organization.

An HR Generalist looks into the overall HR activities of an organization right from the recruitment of employees to exit formalities. Their work encompasses:

1. Recruiting and staffing
2. Organizing workspace for new employees
3. Updating personnel files and employee status changes
4. Administering leaves of absence
5. Overseeing employee relations counseling and exit interviews
6. Reviewing annual performance reviews
7. Developing and implementing HR policies and procedures

An HR Generalist is a person who takes care of the entire gamut of HR activities, instead of specializing in one particular area of HR.

Hope this answers your query.

Best Wishes,

Sd
