Hi,
It is very common to see posts asking for Training Games and Activities. Whenever I encounter such posts, I feel a little worried and concerned for the Trainees. The reason for the concern is the trainer's limited knowledge of understanding the basics of training. Let's get the basics correct first:
1. For making any module, we start with Training Needs Identification (TNI) and then proceed with Training Needs Analysis (TNA).
2. Defining Learning Objectives is very important as it gives you clarity about what a learner shall be able to do post the training program.
3. The third step is making a training design and putting together the content that shall be able to meet the learning objectives.
4. Selecting the right methodology for the content is the next step.
5. Developing the content is the next step.
For example, if a company wants you to conduct training on 'Team Building', based on the TNA, the Learning Objectives will vary as per the audience and situation.
Looking out for activities and games first is like getting random material and trying to fit it to appear like a module. Without mentioning the Learning Objectives and asking for 'Games and Activities' is like not thinking of a dish to make first, but just arranging some ingredients to make 'something'.
So it is my request to all the people out here to follow the right steps of training and come up with Quality Training Material. You owe it to the participants!
In case anyone needs help with training content, methodology (role, plays, games, etc.), I am more than happy to help but please provide information on:
a) The need for Training
b) The audience profile
c) Learning objectives
If you want more information on how to conduct TNA, TNI, Learning Objectives, Training Design, or Training Methodologies, you can send me an email asking for the information.
