Hi all,

I work for an IT company with a staff strength of 350 employees in India. We have planned to revise the salary for our employees. Right now, the trainees receive a stipend of 6500/- for 6 months, and after six months, they become ASEs and start with a salary ranging from 1.2-1.6 Lacs. I want to restructure the compensation package. Other positions like SE earn between 2.5-4 Lacs, and SSE earns between 3.5-5 Lacs. We aim to increase the trainees' salaries to Rs. 1.2 Lacs without significantly impacting the salaries of higher-level professionals like ASEs. We do not intend to alter their CTCs. Are there any parameters that need to be followed? I appreciate your help in this matter.

Thanks,
Mariaa

Dear friends,

I just want to know how the salary is calculated, how much percentage is to be divided for BASIC, HRA, DA, and other allowances. Payroll processing differs from one company to another. Please give me a brief discussion.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi Rajat,

Should the company have to pay any Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) for House Rent Allowance (HRA) in employees' salaries? I am attaching a Salary Break Up sheet that our company has decided to implement. Could you please guide me on what should be the percentage for the different heads and the percentage of FBT that our company has to pay? Our company is based in Kolkata.

Thanks,
Arunava.

Hi, I am totally new to HRM, however, I have been working in the finance department for more than 5 years. I am in the process of developing a salary structure for my company (30 employees). We are a machine maker for the Semiconductor industry; the majority of the staff in my company are Engineers, technicians, and operation staff.

Can someone please guide me on how to create a fair salary structure for the company? One of the challenges is how to pay skilled Engineers more than a Manager who may not be as skillful. The skilled Engineer may have a higher pay compared to the manager. How does this all work? Can someone provide me with some websites or information to study? Your help is very much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Maria,

If you don't want to increase their CTC, then make their basic more than 6500 so that they will be out of the preview of PF. This way, you can increase their in-hand salary, and you can implement the same in EPF.
