Hi guys, I have passed out with my MBA in HRM from PTU (Jalandhar). I have attended many interviews, and now I have secured a job in consultancy as a recruiter. I would like to ask all HR professionals whether one year of experience in consultancy would be considered as experience in an HR company. Please suggest.

Hi, I have completed my MBA in 2010. Presently, I am working as a Technical Recruiter with a consultancy in Chandigarh, where I am earning only 5000. I have just 3 months of experience in this role. However, I now realize that this may not be the right job for me. My aspiration is to become an HRD Officer in the future.
In the consultancy, there are 6 employees, and unfortunately, we do not receive our salaries on time. Therefore, I have a few questions:
1. Should I learn recruitment to transition into the HR department?
2. Is recruitment a suitable career option after completing an MBA in HR?
3. What would be an appropriate salary for a fresher in the role of an IT Recruiter?
Thank you.

Recruitment Concerns and Career Guidance Needed
I have some doubts regarding recruitment. I completed my MBA in HR in 2010. Currently, I am working as an IT Recruiter in a consultancy in Chandigarh since June 2010. I am only receiving 5000. In today's scenario, this amount is very low.
Before joining, the owner of the company mentioned that he would pay us 8000 after 2 months. However, we are only receiving 5000, even in installments. He does not pay us on a fixed date. Additionally, he does not fulfill our basic needs in the office, such as water and tea. When we bring up the issue of tea, he does not address it.
Questions and Career Advice
I have a few questions:
1. Is 5000 an appropriate package for an MBA fresher?
2. I aspire to become an HRD officer. Should I continue learning recruitment to transition into the HR department?
3. I am considering leaving this job because I am not enjoying my work at the office.
Please help me. I seek your advice and guidance. I am eagerly waiting for your reply.

Hi, maybe in your city, there is a lack of opportunities. As per your qualifications, this salary is very low. Here, of course, you will gain some experience in recruitment, which is an important part of HR, but you should try for a new job in a good company because it's easier to get a job in a company where you are eligible. Post your resumes on job portals and also go for interviews in companies.

See Bandana Rani, I don't buy the arguments for looking at monetary terms at such an early stage of your professional career, especially when you can't compare PTU with IIMs/ISB, and also, I'm not assuming you are a merit holder. So, to my understanding, it's time to implement your learnings and nourish your skills. Certainly, to some extent now and up to a certain level, working with recruitment consultancies is acceptable in corporates as well. Don't try to compare yourself with others in your course if, for the time being, they are excelling on certain parameters, as professional careers are typically long and built upon your domain expertise and professional rigor. Thus, try to build on that, leaving all momentary worries behind.
To make you feel confident, I know a lady who is currently heading HR for Pan India and overseas operations for a telecom company. She started her career with a recruitment consultancy and then worked as an executive HR in a consumer durable plant. To avoid breaking any protocol, let me not discuss her further here. But I am sure you can also follow her path to success by owning your way of learning beyond capabilities. Good luck.

Hi all, I am Ravi, MBA HR 2010. Recently, I received an offer as an Account Executive in HR Operations from a Fortune staffing company. I am confused about the job profile. Can anyone explain what the exact responsibilities are as an Account Executive in HR Operations? Please suggest whether to join that organization. Is that a core HR job? What are the growth opportunities?

Ravi
