It's really a good idea. At least we can arrange separate get-togethers for each region. For example, someone has to take the initiative to bring together CiteHR groups in the Kolkata region at some occasion, like Durga Puja or any other event. I was a member of it in my last organization, and we used to meet once a year to discuss things on a bigger platform. There, the organizers used to conduct seminars as well. My only concern is that some people will try to make it commercial for vested interests.

Meeting everyone for what purpose? If sharing thoughts and professional ideas, it can be done through the HR Forum Online as we have been doing presently. But can anyone tell me what that is going to achieve in meeting members directly? All members are scattered in different parts of the country/world. Most of us would not be familiar with each other in person. It will take time to get familiar and share thoughts and ideas, and the day will be over very soon. We are not planning to have a three-day seminar, right?

However, every member has their own individual and personal responsibility for their lives, making it a little difficult to gather. I believe that we can organize an Annual Meet at the end of every year. It is always better to start with a small step in the right direction. To begin with, form citywise groups, especially major metros first followed by next-level cities. Depending upon workload, professional commitments, etc., we can attempt to meet a maximum number of persons possible, preferably on a Saturday evening, say from 5 to 8 pm, which can be followed by a contributory dinner. Maybe at a later stage, a regional level and subsequently national level meet can be organized. Needless to say, there are a lot of platforms such as NIPM, ISTD, etc., already in existence, and duplication of efforts or overstepping on others' toes can well be avoided!

It's not possible to bring ALL members together. The reason being that members are scattered across the planet. Sometimes I think it's easy for posters to forget that CiteHR is not just in India. All of CiteHR cannot meet; it's not practical.
Those of us in the UAE have met several times. We haven't met recently because those who were instrumental in making the meets a reality became frustrated. Our frustration was the result of feeling let down personally and financially by colleagues. Members would state their attendance at the meet, and we would have to guarantee a headcount to a venue. Later, stuck with a 30-50% no-show rate, the remaining attendees would get stuck with paying the bill.
Trying to move these discussions into a professional development group is admirable; be warned of the challenges.
