Dear Villis,

It would be good if you delve into SAP-HR. However, it is entirely different from Generalist or Functional HR. If you pursue SAP-HR, the main goal would be to transition into a SAP consultant role. This knowledge might prove beneficial in a generalist position, especially in large multinational corporations where SAP is utilized. However, even in such cases, your role would typically be that of an End User.

The primary focus of studying SAP lies in the implementation aspect. You would be involved in SAP projects, working as part of an implementation team to execute projects for client companies.

If you wish to continue in the generalist HR field, you should consider taking a SAP course from a reputable institute. This will equip you with the basics of SAP, provide tutorial software for practice, and guide you on installation.

If you require further clarification, feel free to reach out to me. I have experience in SAP-HR and currently work in a generalist capacity. It's important to note that no institute can teach you SAP comprehensively since they cannot offer live projects for hands-on experience, which is usually gained by working as a consultant.

Kind regards,

Hi Villi,

You can very well learn SAP-HR. That will give good opportunities as well as monetary benefits. I am a Ph.D. in HRM. Once it is completed, I will learn SAP. To date, I have 3.3 years of experience in software testing and have recently joined as a technical recruiter. Even in this case, SAP is useful. So, I suggest you learn it and search for jobs in that field.

Dear Maddineni,

Are you planning to shift your domain to SAP? If not, you don't need to do it on a priority basis. I hope the post itself would explain much to you. I have already informed you that there are currently no job vacancies for an SAP fresher. Even if you have some experience in the HR domain, you would still be considered a fresher in SAP, as the domain experience would only help you understand the basic components of SAP-HR.

Best Regards,
Mahesh

Dear friends,

Can someone help me find an HR job? I have completed my B.Sc. in Physics, followed by 2 years of work experience as a Customer Service Agent with leading airlines - Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines. Now, I am looking to transition into a Human Resources role within a manufacturing company. Currently, I am being offered opportunities as a Front Office Assistant. Could someone assist me?

Do you think I am not qualified enough for the position of HR Executive? I am also pursuing an MBA from Symbiosis. Please, someone, reply to me.

Thank you.

Dear Rahul,

This is a reply to the email you sent to me. I want this information to be shared with everyone here. Other points are explained here, except for some key ones.

The market for SAP is very good and is projected to remain strong for another 20 years. However, even if you have experience in a generalist domain, you would still be considered a fresher in SAP. The market for fresher positions in SAP is currently unfavorable as companies are not hiring individuals with prior SAP experience.

Regarding calls, when a company is implementing SAP into its operations, they typically first implement all other functionalities, with HR being the last module to be integrated. Although HR is a crucial module for companies utilizing SAP, it is usually not the first to be called upon during implementation.

I hope this clarifies things for you. If you still have doubts, feel free to contact me.

Dear Ruchika,

This is a reply to the email you sent me. I want to share the information with everyone here.

For a fresher who has specialized in HR, it may be a little challenging to get into a generalist profile, but it is not impossible. You should never give up and always keep trying. In the meantime, do not waste time. Consider getting into a specified profile in HR as it will also add value to your resume.

Currently, pursuing SAP HR is not advisable as there are no openings for fresher roles. If you aspire to work as a functional consultant in SAP, you will need some domain experience in HR.

If you still have doubts, feel free to reach out to me.

Thank you.

Dear Priti,

This is a reply to the email you sent to me. I want the information to be shared with everyone here.

Doing SAP-HR could bring you better prospects in your career, but only if you are looking to change your field from a generalist role to a SAP consultant role. If that is your goal, then you should take the course from well-known educational partners of SAP Inc.

If you want to stay in a generalist role and simply enhance your career with SAP, then you should choose a regular study center. SAP is vast, and any institute will only teach you the basics. No institute can provide you with real-world experience or practice on live projects. It's simply not possible.

Currently, the market is favorable for experienced SAP professionals, but not for freshers in SAP. Even with about 4 years of domain experience, you would still be considered a fresher in SAP... :(

Please email me a comment on exactly what you are looking for, so I can provide you with a specific response.

Best regards,

Mahesh :)

Dear Priti,

This is a reply to the email you sent to me. I want this information to be shared with everyone here.

Yes, I mentioned that the market for functional, technical, and techno-functional consultants in SAP is good if you have experience in SAP. Currently, no company is hiring individuals who have only trained in SAP without domain experience.

The salary package for a fresher in SAP would be not less than 3,00,000 per annum. However, discussing salary is not relevant when there are no job openings for freshers in SAP in the current market situation. It is advisable to check back after October 2010. 😊

Thank you.

Hi Mahesh,

Thank you, Mahesh. In SAP, there are two aspects: domain and technical. For the domain aspect, there is no requirement for experience in SAP; I heard that only domain knowledge is necessary. I am confused about what to do. Can you help me figure out what would be good for me?

Thank you.

Dear Purnima,

This is a reply to the email you sent to me, as I would like this information to be shared with everyone here.

The demand for SAP personnel is constant and is expected to increase as businesses recover from the recession. As the money flow improves, it directly impacts process flow and technology, prompting companies to implement SAP within their organizations. Consequently, the demand for SAP professionals rises, reflecting the concept of demand-supply elasticity. Specifically, I want to highlight the opportunities available for freshers in the field of SAP.

The quality of your SAP training largely depends on the institute you choose. Regular institutes may provide only a basic understanding of SAP, requiring extensive practice on your part. A deeper comprehension of the software often comes from hands-on experience in a job involving SAP. The variation between training software and operational software lies in the interface; for instance, training software may have numerous radio buttons and additional features not commonly found in operational software.

In the SAP context, an end user and an implementer are essentially the same. Implementers work on the backend of the system, interacting with backend screens, whereas end users utilize the frontend screens for their tasks. This distinction is analogous to how members using citehr.com are end users, while those who developed the site using software are the implementers.

Thank you.

Dear Maddineni,

Yes, what you mentioned is correct. Prior to July 2008, companies were hiring people with just domain experience and training them in the SAP module. This was because there were no centers or training institutes that could teach SAP comprehensively. Even big institutes like Siemens, Genovate, etc., were unable to provide practical knowledge on live projects.

That's precisely why I mentioned that job opportunities for SAP freshers are currently limited in the market. You can verify this yourself by conducting a search on the web. I hope this clarifies things for you. :)

Hi Mahesh,

I understand what you are saying, but I am confused about what to do. The organization where I work does not use SAP; they only work with Excel. Therefore, I do not have any opportunity to learn anything new in the organization where I am currently employed.

Thank you.
