Hi all,
If a declared holiday falls on Saturday or Sunday, is it mandatory that we give another holiday in lieu of that? For example, we have 2nd October falling on Saturday. Do we declare some other day (say 1st November, a day of celebration for Karnataka) as a holiday in lieu of 2nd October?

Yes, that is what is usually done. You can also choose to add an extra day to employee’s casual leaves.

Hi,
The normal trend is to compensate for such a holiday by adding another holiday to the holiday list. For example, when preparing the list at the beginning of the year, it can be determined which standard holidays fall on Saturday or Sunday. An equivalent number of holidays for other occasions that are left out can then be added to the list. Of course, this process requires approvals, but it is fair to everyone.
