Hello Friends!

I need your advice and suggestions regarding my future career options. I'm an MBA (HR) with 3.5 years of teaching experience at the Post Graduate level. Recently, I've completed my Ph.D. (area was e-HR). Now I'm looking for openings in the corporate sector (location BANGALORE). Can anybody suggest some openings in Bangalore? Please advise me on how I should proceed since I have no experience in the corporate world. What kind of job will I get with my teaching experience?

Hi Dr. Pooja,

In my opinion, with your kind of competencies, you will have ample opportunities in companies that have requirements in the fields of Training and Development. Why don't you try out for IT companies? They are spending a good amount on T&D now, and the opening positions emerge every now and then. Probably, you may also try out for research and development in IT companies. Please try applying to the top 5 Indian IT giants.

However, you may get a little less compensation compared to others, as you will still be learning about the organizational culture. I was wondering, have you done something in the field of IT-enabled HR or have an Engineering background? If yes, you have a really good future ahead. Wishing you the best of luck.

Dear Dr. Pooja/Colleagues,

Congratulations on your achievements so far and more grease to your elbow. I would suggest that you align yourself fully with Human Resources by taking a bold step of advancement and registering with all the relevant institutions—both locally and internationally. The CIPD is British; the Indian version should be available for you.

In addition to the above, I have a career path suggestion for you. Consider joining a reputable consulting firm such as KPMG, PWC, Deloitte, et al, and work in their Human Capital Management/Development Department. This position would allow you to facilitate workshops, seminars, conduct research, and explore findings in related fields and topics.

As mentioned earlier by a colleague, the compensation might not be immediately fantastic, but with time, like fine wine, it becomes more valuable. Therefore, I recommend that you wait it out to reap the benefits later.

Cheers and all the best as you ponder these opportunities. Remember, you are the only one who can make up your mind on this path in life.

Thank you.
