One more practical and non-expensive idea is to keep a weighing machine and ask your staff to weigh the food wasted every day. You could then request them to report to you daily. Display on the whiteboard the amount of food wasted each day throughout the week and show how that quantity could suffice for how many people. This leaves an impression on the mind, and the cost and time spent on the same are minimal. People genuinely tend to feel guilty, and practically, I have seen a difference in wastage.
