Hi all,
I am an HR manager who joined the present organization 2 months ago. We have contract employees from different contracts. As per the agreements, the contractors need to pay PF for all their respective employees. We suspect it wasn't paid properly. Initially, we requested the ECR statement from the contractor, but we have doubts that it may have been edited or the contributions were remitted to someone else. We have asked for access to the contractor employer portal because most of the contract employees are uneducated and do not have access to their PF details. We also attempted to access the passbook through their UAN (member portal), but were unsuccessful as their mobile numbers did not match their UAN. Is there a screen or option in the employer portal to view employee PF passbook entries so that we can verify each employee's previous contributions as well?

Employers cannot view the passbook of the workers engaged through a third party. You will have to rely on the documents (ECR) submitted by the contractor. If you feel that the contractor has edited the same, you can call him for a meeting and ask him to show the contribution details in your presence. If a telephone number and employees' names mismatch occurs, you should not continue the contract but initiate very strict action, including the stoppage of payment and termination of the contract.
