Will a CPSU which follows contributory provident fund deduct PF from subsistence allowance and contribute the matching amount to PF during the suspension period?

During the suspension period, you are not paid a salary, but only a subsistence allowance is provided. Subsistence allowance is an amount paid for the survival of the employee. It is not earned by the employee through working in the establishment, so it does not fall under the definition of wages. Therefore, subsistence allowance will not attract PF contribution.

Mr. Madhu is correct. But there is a feeling among many HR professionals that labor laws impact public and private sector establishments differently. Except for a provision in the Payment of Bonus Act, there is no difference in the applicability of labor laws.
