PFA Apprentices (Maharashtra Amendment) Act 2017 was notified on 9th February 2018. The main amendments are as follows:
1. We should have trade apprentices comprising a minimum of 2.5% and a maximum of 25% of the total strength of employees, including contractual or daily wage workers.
2. The minimum rate of stipend per month shall be 70% of the minimum wages of semi-skilled workers during the first year, 80% in the second year, and 90% in the third year.
3. The period of training will be as specified by the State Apprenticeship Council.
It will come into force on a date to be notified separately.
