Dear All,

If an employee wants to rejoin the company, what is the procedure? Do we have to give him a new appointment letter and offer letter, and will the employee code be changed or remain the same?

Please help me with this as I don't have any idea about it, and it is something new for me.

Hi,

Yes, you need to consider a rejoined employee as a new employee and complete all the necessary formalities such as allocating a new employee number, issuing an employment letter with a new joining date, etc. In this case, the previous service will not be counted. The only positive aspect is that the employee is already familiar with the company and the work. And vice versa.

Hi,

I agree with Avani. The employee will get a new employee number and will be considered a new employee for all purposes, including the joining letter and other formalities. He may retain his old PF account number unless he has withdrawn it.

Riji,

There may be two types of cases:

1. Reinstatement of an employee: If an employee resigned from service but did not join any organization and requested management to reinstate him back. It's up to management to approve his/her reinstatement, which will not affect his service or benefits. This case may happen immediately after resigning within the notice period.

2. Rejoining after a long period: In this case, the employee will be treated as a new employee, and all formalities and procedures will be carried out accordingly.

It will not make any difference if the employee has already worked with you or not. Every appointment is a new appointment, and hence everything will be new. New offer letter, new appointment letter... new employee code.
